WHAT IS TIGER STONE?

Tiger’s eye is a chatoyant, golden-brown to red-brown gemstone known for its silky luster and resemblance to a tiger’s eye. It’s a variety of quartz and is believed to enhance courage, clarity, and intuition.

Formation –
Tiger’s eye forms through the pseudomorphism process, where quartz replaces asbestos fibers, preserving their structure and creating the silky shimmer.

Specifically, it’s formed when crocidolite (a fibrous blue mineral) is transformed into iron oxides, which are then replaced by silica (quartz).

The distinctive silky, wavy shimmer across the stone is due to the parallel arrangement of fibers within the quartz.
